Meet the Artist
Amy Miller started writing and illustrating stories from a very young age. In third grade her teacher enjoyed Amy’s stories so much that she read one aloud to the class for story time, as Amy sat in the back writing more chapters for the story. As Amy got older she began to focus on the art side of storytelling. She filled all the open spaces in her high school schedule with art classes. Classes like Honors Art, where part of the curriculum was creating her own interactive booth for a community night and having her art displayed in a local gallery for several days.
Amy’s love for art led her to get a BFA in Entertainment Design - Animation at UW Stout. While studying at Stout, Amy reenforced her foundational skills as an artist while also learning the skills necessary to tell a compelling story through art. She did an internship with Southern Pine Electric where she created a coloring book for children and an animated safety video to accompany it. Amy also spent a semester studying in San Bernardino through the National Student Exchange program where she got to meet different art professors and experienced living in a different part of the country.
Several months after graduating from Stout, Amy landed a contract job as an illustrator for a children’s book. It was through this hands-on experience that she realized illustration was the field she wanted to pursue. Amy continues to make digital art almost daily and looks for any opportunity to grow her skills as an artist.
